Its main peak Yintiao Peak rises to a height of over 2796.8 meters, which is the culminating point in Chongqing City and is what could properly call the first peak in Chongqing. Yintiaoling natural protection area is the part that extends from the Shennongjia primitive forest into Chongqing, belonging to the Qingling Mountain Ranges.
The nature reserve is bordered by the Qinling-Daba Mountains to the east, Wushan Ranges to the south. The relative altitude differs greatly from the foot to the top of the hill. The temperature and vegetation landscape is richly layered. With an average elevation of 1,900 meters, the nature reserve boasts the only stretch of virgin forest and pollution-free alpine pasture in the Chongqing City.
The plant species inside the natural protection zones have more than 1,500, with a wide variety of the representative ecosystems. There're a large number of rare and endangered species, the prevalent are the rare gingko, davidia involucrata, wintersweet, arborvitae and yew trees that are under state first-class protection, it's the gene pool of the natural species.
This wooded country of marvelous flowers and rare plants is the haunt of rare birds and animals. The Yintiao Peak whose cloudy summit rushed into the very heavens dominates over all surrounding mountains. And the great Daguan Mountain belongs to the laboratory area of Yintiaoling Nature Reserve, adjoining to Shennongjia primitive forest, covering an area of 180,000 mu, among which the original secondary forest accounts for an area of 100,000 mu, and the natural grassland with an area of 10,000 mu.
The forestry and grass coverage rate reached over 90%. The elevation falls between 1,600 meters and 2,500 meters. Daguan Mountain is located among the lofty mountains. The shallow hills within the scenic spot are rhythmic. It has been known as the Tianshan Mountains of the East. The unique mountain vertical landscapes brought in a special and abundant landscape efficiency, and functioned ecologically, economically and socially.
Yintiaoling Nature Reserve has the rich resources of animals and plants, thickly grown with the ancient trees that reach into the skies. The nature reserve is well known for the growth of the precious medicinal herbs like Fritillaria and gastralgia tuber. It's one of the historic "Five Great Yao Mountains." The stone in the Lanying village had experienced the rains and winds with a history of 1,300 years.
The landscape in the Lanying village is mainly dominated by the primitive forest, occasionally several meadows. The area around the Lanying village was formerly known as the Jiuyan Mountain. The ancients who once led the life of a recluse here considered the feng shui in Jiuyan Mountain is extremely good, with the majestic steep crags.
