Ancient Ginkgo Forest Park

Autumn is a good season for appreciating lots of beauties, ginkgo leaves for example, looks wonderful in autumn when the leaves turn vivid golden. Ginkgo, also called maidenhair tree is easy to recognize by its unique fan-shaped leaves, which turn a brilliant golden yellow in autumn. They remain on the tree until late in the season and then cascade to the ground, sometimes all in one day. This extraordinary tree can adapt to just about any climate.

The park covers an area of 9,800 acres which is the largest intensive Ginkgo forest in China. It is estimated that there're altogether 13,800 Ginkgo trees, among which three are over one thousand years old. About eighty percent of China's Ginkgo output comes from Taixing. As an old saying goes, "China is the best place to appreciate Ginkgo trees while the best place in China is Taixing Ginkgo Forest Park." Falling leaves have always been typical imagination for autumn in our mind, they are beautiful, but before you see the overwhelming golden ginkgo leaves in the ancient Ginkgo forest part, it’s still too early for you to deem the world “amazing”.

Gardeners appreciate ginkgo trees (Ginkgo biloba), also referred to as maidenhair trees, for their interesting visual appeal. Those interested in learning how to enhance their longevity may want to look to Gingko Biloba, whose very existence today as a "living fossil" speaks volumes to its ability to survive conditions that would otherwise kill or dramatically shorten the lifespan of most other species. The rate of evolution within the genus has been slow, and almost all its species had become extinct by the end of the Pliocene; the exception is the sole living species, Ginkgo biloba, which is only found in the wild in China, but is cultivated across the world. The relationships between ginkgos and other groups of plants are not fully resolved.



Ginkgo has an irregular growth habit and green, fan-shaped leaves that display a vivid yellow hue during autumn. You should choose male plants for the home garden, because females produce foul-smelling fruit. These slow-growing deciduous plants may reach a height of up to 80 feet when provided appropriate care. Though they rarely suffer from health problems, they are not wholly immune. As for the well-known medical use, ginkgo leaves are believed to contain compounds that thin blood and help to improve muscle tone in the walls of blood vessels. This may enhance blood flow, so they are used to improve memory, and help cure diseases like Tinnitus, Alzheimer's disease, Peripheral artery disease, Macular degeneration, Glaucoma etc., as well as to enhance blood circulation.
