Zhangjiajie, Phoenix Town & Three Gorges Tour 10 Days

Detailed Itinerary: After touring the ancient Phoenix Ancient Town, visiting Hong Bridge,  North Gate Tower and the Folks Commercial Street. You will then be transferred to Zhangjiajie by coach.

Zhangjiajie  was previously named Dayong, and has a recorded history dating back to 221 BC.  There are two major scenic attraction areas here.

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park: In 1982 it was recognized as China's first national forest park. Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is part of a much larger Wulingyuan Scenic Area.

Detailed Itinerary: Your day starts with a boat ride on the beautiful Baofeng Lake. It is situated within the mountainous area with greenery surrounding mirrored scenes on the lake, showing a wonderful vertically symmetrical landscape.

The next stop is Tianmenshan Mountain National Forest Park. With numerous mystical legends, it's known as the "First Holy Mountain of Xiangxi" and the "Soul of Wuling". 

Tianmen Mountain: The cableway is claimed in tourist publications as the "longest passenger cableway of high mountains in the world", with 98 cars and a total length of 7,455 metres (24,459 ft) and ascent of 1,279 metres (4,196 ft) The highest gradient is an unusual 37 degrees.  You can see the 10km Heavenly Link Avenue from the Cable Car.

The Tianmen Arch: The arch is131 meters in height, 57 meters width and 50 meters depth.  The 999-steps stairway way leading to the Arch is a challenge. 

Guigu Plank Road: The plank road is built onto the cliff face at the top of the mountain, including sections with glass floors.

Detailed Itinerary: You will visit Wulingyuan Scenic Area for two days. You will first visit Yuanjiajie and Tianzi Mountain.

Wulingyuan Scenic Area: Wulingyuan Scenic Area is situated north of Zhangjiajie and is a popular Zhangjiajie tourist attraction. It's one of the 40 most famous scenic spots in China. The contractible fairyland was admitted to the 'World Heritage List' in 1992.

Bailong Elevator:  A glass elevator built onto the side of a huge cliff.  It is 1,070 feet (330 m) high. It is claimed to carry 3 world records:  the world fastest passenger elevator, the world highest outdoor sightseeing elevator and the world maximum load elevator.

First Bridge: a 5m thick stone slab naturally and breathtakingly pilied between two peaks.  The back garden here is known as the "Natural Bonsai" that resemble the royal garden with varieties of pinnacles.

Yuanjiajie Scenic Area: Yuanjiajie is famous as the Southern Sky Pillar inspired the floating mountains in the Hollywood blockbuster Avatar.

Tianzi Mountain: Tianzi Mountain is named after Xiang Dakun who led the local farmers' revolt and called himself Tianzi---the Son of Heaven. Bounded by Suoxi Valley on the east, Zhangjiajie on the south, Sangzhi County on the north, Tianzi Mountain is one of the four scenic zones in Wulingyuan.

Ten-mile Gallery: Located in the Donggou Gorge, Ten-mile Gallery is a 5km scenic road with Wanxing village and Longtan village on each end. With all kinds of sceneries and attractions on it, the road offers an amazing experience of beauty.  

Detailed Itinerary: Today you will visit Grand Canyon, Junshen Gallery and Tusi Palace. You will then be transferred to Cili by coach.

Grand Canyon: There are so many waterfalls at Grand Canyon, it just everywhere. Green Trees and fresh air makes your visit here cool and comfortable, and the stream was filled with a layer of mist, just like a paradise, makes your trouble go away.

Junsheng Sandstone Painting Gallery: Reputed to be a form of ”green painting” and ”environmental protection painting” in art circles, Junsheng Sandstone Painting is regarded as ”the special pride of Hunan”. It is highly rated and prized by art collectors. In fact, it is considered the precious gift that the Hunan Provincial Government present to all guests at home and abroad.

Tusi Palace: Tusi Palace is also know as Zhangjiajie Tujia Customs Park. It is a large integrated tourism service enterprises that consist of tourism, cultural performances, rare exhibitions, accommodation, entertainment, and shopping.

Detailed Itinerary: You will be transferred to Yichang by coach and have lunch at Jingzhou. After, you will visit Jingzhou Ancient City Wall and the Jingzhou Museum. After you you arrive in Yichang, you will visit Jiangbin Park.

You have free time for shopping at Wanda Square before boarding the cruise ship.

Jingzhou: a transportation hub and commodity distribution center for 6,000 years.  Situated in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, this has been a strategic location of military importance since ancient times.

The Ancient City of Jingzhou:  The city walls were rebuilt in 1646 and measure 9 metres (30 ft) high and 10 metres (33 ft) thick. The perimeter of the wall extends for 9.3 kilometres (5.8 mi). The city walls, city gates, watchtowers, and battlements have all been well maintained.

The Jingzhou Museum: Most famous for a well-preserved 2,000-year-old male corpse. Also on display are silk and lacquerware from the Warring States Period.

Detailed Itinerary: After breakfast, you will take a shore excursion to visit The Three Gorges Dam. The cruise will pass through east section of Xiling Gorge and five-step shiplocks. Enjoy the Captain’s welcome dinner banquet.

Three Gorges Dam: The world’s largest hydroelectric structure regulates navigation on the Yangtze River, controls floods and generates enormous quantities of electrical power.  It is the first hydropower project completely researched, designed and built by Chinese.

The Ship Locks make the shipping through the Three Gorges become much safer. Each of the two ship locks is made up of five stages, taking around four hours in total to transit, and has a vessel capacity of 10,000 tons.

Detailed Itinerary: After breakfast, you will change to small boat. You will take a shore excursion to Lesser Three Gorges or Shennong Stream. Today the cruise will pass through Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge.

Lesser Three Gorges is located on the north bank of the new Badong county,  Here everything is green. Flourishing trees and shadows reflecting on clear waters.  Shore Excursion is included in cruise ticket.

Detailed Itinerary: This morning the ship will arrive at Zhong County, you will take shore excursion to visit  Shibaozhai, a village surrounded by stockade formed from upright wooden posts and stakes, which is an ancient defense system against enemy attack. It is the largest wooden structure architecture in China. 

Tonight you will enjoy the Captain's Farewell Dinner.

Shibaozhai: Shibaozhai is located in Chongqing’s Zhong County and is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the Yangtze River. The temple dates back to the Qing Dynasty and exhibits some of the most spectacular architecture. The 12 story Pagoda is enlisted as one of the 8 Architectural Miracles of the World. 

Detailed Itinerary: You will arrive in Chongqing in the morning. Your local guide will take you for a city tour in Chongqing to visit: Chongqing People's Great Hall, Hongyadong, Huguang Museum. You will take a trip to Jiefangbei Walking Street for some free and easy shopping until your transfer to the airport for your flight home.

Jiefangbei Walking Street: Jiefangbei Walking Street is one of Chongqing's main commercial zones. With Chongqing People's Liberation Monument as its center, and is regarded as the commercial center of the Yuzhong District in Chongqing.
