Huangpu River, also known as the mother river of Shanghai, is the final branch of Yangtze River before it flows into the East China Sea. Ranking as the largest of Shanghai, it has a length of about 114 kilometers. As a matter of fact, Shanghai City is mainly divided into two parts by the Huangpu River, and that is what we usually called “Pudong” and “Puxi”. Since Huangpu River has a history of more than hundreds of years, it has witnessed the ups and downs of Shanghai City.
Actually Huangpu River has long been an indispensable part of Shanghai People’s daily life, because the drinking water, shipping, tourism and fishery are largely relied on it. Huangpu River is long and yellow that looks like a grand yellow dragon wriggling in the city, splendid and holy.
