Itinerary Overview:

Yabuli Ski Resort → Sun Island → Siberian Tiger Park → Sophia Church → Harbin Central Avenue → Huamei Western Restaurant → Er Ren Zhuan Show

Winter is the best time to visit Harbin, and it must be exciting to experience the cold weather there. So when I felt cold, I started my trip to Harbin.

The moment I got off the plane, I felt I still need to wear more clothes. But don’t worry! The temperature in the car and the house is very high, and it is very comfortable to stay indoor!

Yabuli original means apple orchard in Russian language. There are 18 ski trails in Yabuli Ski Resort, and its alpine ski trail is the longest in Asia. Yabuli Ski Resort has a total length of 40 km, as well as a total length of 10,000 meters of overhead cable car, and a max drop of 5,000 meters high. I took a cable car box up to the halfway of the mountain, then down a car, and take a chair lift to the summit. The temperature on the summit is nearly minus 40 degrees, so the battery was frozen and out of power. There is only a cabin shop on the peak, selling gloves, coats, hats, and some snacks, something is ridiculously expensive, but there were still many people buying those things.

In Harbin, you should stroll around the Central Avenue, taste an ice cream in Modern Hotel Harbin, and have a Russian meal in Huamei Western Restaurant. Avenue is the epitome of Harbin, clearly reflecting Harbin's unique architectural culture and the European life, and known as the Asia's first street.

It was very cold, we got off the plane.

But it’s a pity that I shot little pictures, because I couldn’t wait to ski when arrived Harbin. Look at this news, the heating pipes were burst in the cold winter.

The amazing Sun Gate is composed of five white ellipse gates, with four small gates on the sides and a big one in the center.

My guide told me that the stone carved with the three Chinese characters is the Sun Stone. The Sun Stone can accurately forecast the weather. My god, indeed, so magic!

Tiger Park

We saw some people and vehicles on the way to the Tiger Park, our tour guide told me that the workers were taking ice on the Songhua River, to make ice lantern. The Songhua River is frozen solid, so the vehicles and cranes directly drove on the river.

St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral is one of the most magnificent structures in Harbin. It was built in 1907 after the completion of the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1903, which connected Vladivostok to northeast China. The Russian No.4 Army Division arrived in this region just after Russia's loss to the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese War. St. Sophia Church was built and completed of timber in March, 1907 as part of a plan to reconsolidate the confidence of the army by building an imposing spiritual symbol. The church was expanded and renovated from September 23, 1923, when a ceremony was held to celebrate the laying of the cornerstone, to its completion on November 25, 1932, after nine years. The present day St. Sophia Church was hailed as a monumental work of art.
