Enchanting Mount Yunding in Fujian

Yunding Mountain is located in the northern part of Tongan district in Xiamen city, which stands at the cross of Anxi County in Quanzhou city and Nanan city of Quanzhou City. On the mountain stands a stone tablet. Yunding Mountain rises 1175.2 meters above sea level, which is the highest peak in Tongan district and Xiamen. The summit of the mountain is nearly lost in the cloud and mist. Hence the name Yunding Mountain.



The name of Yunding Mountain corresponds to Yunding rock as the dominant peak of Xiamen island. In winter, the air temperature is usually lower about 5 degrees than the foot of the hill. When the cold snap affected the Xiamen city, the air temperature on Yunding Mountain generally remains below 3℃. Temperatures can drop below 10 degrees Celsius in urban areas but sub-zero temperatures and frost usually occur on the mountain.



The area of Yunding Mountain is about 9 square kilometers. The mountain shall be north-south direction, with the gentle slope in South, rough and steep in North. What is just so unbelievable is that the mountain is formed by the granite porphyry. The mountain is abounding with water resources, and the streams are gathering. On the top of the mountain is standing on one three realms tablet.



The scenic spot is not only the place for visitors to go climbing and making inquiries about, but the place of the deep accumulation of historical human culture. From the end of March to early April in every year, the flowering azaleas are now in full glorious bloom all over the mountains and plains, which is an admirable place to come to for feasting your eyes on the beautiful scenes and seeking the places of historic figures and cultural heritage.



There's once one poem described like this: My friend had prepared a chicken and plain food and he plan to invite me to his cottage hall; the village is surrounded by the green trees; blue mountains slant beyond the city wall. Azaleas on the summit of Yunding Mountain are bursting into blossom ahead of time this year. Friends of Wangqian village in Tongan district warmly invited us to come and admire the beauty of the village.



When we reached at the entrance to the village, we could see the mountain road that loomed up out of the green mountains is peppered with visitors. Wangqian village surrounded by the green mountains is just the beautiful scenery, with the black marble house alternated with the green fields, the green terraces and vegetable plot on the hillside, the six ancient banyan trees with twisting roots and intercrossing branches at the entrance to the village.




The highway winds around the mountain. Here it had the strong atmosphere of elegant dwellings at the mountain village. The old lady who always goes in plain clothes carried the wood branches down the hill. While the ingenuous old man is holding a hoe to climb up the mountain and dig the medicinal herb. The place is really imaginary land with a corkscrew of smoke issuing from the chimney.
