Maybe you have heard about the Old Summer Palace or Yuanming Palace in Beijing. Built in 1709 as an imperial garden with 40 scenic spots, it was a typical wonder in China’s architectural history. But it was unfortunately destroyed and burned down by British and French troops in 1860, leaving a scene of devastation. Therefore, a reproduction of it was built and opened to public in 1997 in Zhuhai in order to commemorate its original shape and glorious history. Strolling around the New Yuan Ming Palace in Zhuhai really took us back to the imperial period with a definitely peculiar experience during this Chinese National Day.
Located at the foot of Shilin Mountain, Zhuhai New Yuan Ming Palace reproduces 18 of the 40 sightseeing spots of Old Summer Palace in Beijing in the same size. The palace has been praised as the Base of Provincial Patriotism Education and listed as an AAAA-level National Tourist Area.
The main buildings of the New Yuanming Palace mainly consist of three parts: the imperial garden of Ming and Qing dynasties for holding courts, the classical garden in Jiangnan style, and the western-style building. With the combination of Chinese classic and western architecture features, the garden will give you a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere as well as rich cultural ambience in Qing-period palace.
There are numerous other attractions in the palace, from the ancient Emperor’s artifacts and clothes to floating restaurants and traditional Chinese architecture, where offers amazing opportunities for you to take special photos with mountains around and little pagodas as a backdrop.
Visitors can also enjoy the impressive performances depicting traditional Chinese dances and stories.
Additionally, we paid a visit to the Dreamy Water City and the House to Children located in the west of the Palace, where are great family resorts because of its greenness and recreational facilities as well as cultural atmosphere of ancient Egypt.
What’s more,it was so lucky for us to enjoy the First International Gourmet Festival in the Palace.
