Dinghu Mountain is known as a living nature museum and a green treasure house. With abundant plant species, it is home to over 500 species of plants, including 23 rare species in imminent danger under state protection. It is also home to various kinds of animals, including 178 species of birds and 38 species of animals, 15 species of which are under state protection.
Also, Dinghu Mountain has been well known for its deep and serene gorges, cold and clean waters, major scenic areas. Heavenly Brook-Qingyun Scenic Area includes the Hundred Buddha Cave, Green Trees Surrounded by Clouds, Flying Waterfalls of the Dragon Pond, and Double Rainbows, among others. The Dinghu-Tianhu Scenic Area features the Black Dragon Playing Pearls, Dragon Mother Borrowing a Vessel, Exploring the Heavenly Lake, and so on; and Yunxi- Laoding Scenic Area has the traces of bottle gourds, Water Curtain Cave, Dragon Hidden in the Ancient Pond, White Clouds Embracing Ancient Trees. Butterfly Valley is a typical sub-tropical rainforest valley.
It is a very natural rainforest with hills, streams, and falls. It was really quiet and peace in this forest without much of the interruption from the tourists. Verdant tree is the ideal place for butterfly to habitat and breed. That is where you can see many colorful butterflies flying around and for very high chance that you could see death butterflies laying in this forest. As the most famed one of the four well-known mountains in Guangdong, Dinghu Mountain Scenic Area is the tourist attraction where you can not only appreciate the natural scenery but also feel strong religious atmosphere. It is composed of more than 10 mountains involving Dinghu, Sanbao, Fenglai, Jilong, Fuhu, Qingshi Mountains and Shizi Mountain Range. The main peak – Jilong Mountain, which is at the elevation of 1000.8 meters, is the highest both in the scenic area and in the Pearl River Delta Area. Built in 1633, Qingyun Temple is one of the four renowned temples in Lingnan area for it is frequently visited by people. The scenic area enjoys picturesque scenery and thick forests. There is a lush forest with an area of 4000 hectares. There live birds of over 170 types, beasts of 30 types and snacks of 20 types.
Known as the "green gem on the Tropic of Cancer", the mountain is filled with ancient towering trees, flying waterfalls, fresh air, various birds and colorful flowers.
