Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival has been running since 1987 and this year is the 25th anniversary of the festival. It was announced that the festival would be officially opened to the public on January 21, 2019. The festival took place at Zigong Caideng Park and over 130 lanterns will be on show till the end of March. This year’s theme for the festival is “Beautiful China, Colourful Zigong”. Tourists can visit at 1:00PM but the lanterns officially light up at 6:00PM to 10:30PM.
A total of 26 avenues and 55 points in the main urban area of Zigong have been decorated with lights. This year for the convenience of tourists all information with regards to the festival are available online from accommodation, parking, shopping, entertainment, transportation and other services. Tourists can use their mobile phones to see the lantern festival, purchase tickets and parking directions.
This year the largest lantern section is the “Huaxia Musical” which is located in Dabazi Square of Caideng Park. Over 200,000 pieces of ceramics which weigh 102 tonnes were used to create a clock masterpiece with a height of 30 meters.
